The new shop 02
The whole shop moved to 8610 Botts Lane. Same members, same tools, same volunteers keeping the lights on. What changed is the room around all of it.
Elbow room, finally.
Up from 6,000. More benches, more machines set up at once, and more members working without waiting on a turn.
Cooler heads prevail.
The whole building, not just the office. A San Antonio summer stops being the season the shop goes quiet.
Somewhere to sit down.
A lounge, an office, and dedicated work areas. Somewhere to plan the build, eat lunch, or talk someone through their first cut.
A bigger shop means more room for the next person who walks in curious. That's what this weekend is for. Come see it before it fills up with projects.

Live demos in 3D printing, laser engraving, CNC, glassblowing, woodworking, and metalworking. Live t-shirt and hat printing. Make-and-take projects for all ages. Raffles and giveaways. No experience required. No sales pitch at the end.

This move has drawn down the savings we'd built to grow on. Rebuilding our reserves pays for what comes next: heavy equipment set up safely in the new space, more of the tools members wait on, like a high-capacity laser and more pottery wheels, and our first paid role, a facilities manager working alongside the volunteers, not in place of them.
